How to Use Fitness and Nutrition Apps to Stay Motivated

In November 2014, Healthy Lives member Michelle K. had a wake-up call to take control of her health. Her mother suffered a serious stroke, and Michelle realized she needed to make significant lifestyle changes.
She began her journey to better health in February 2015. Michelle and her best friend joined a fitness center together and committed to meeting each other three to four days a week. In addition to her workouts, Michelle bought an Up24 fitness tracker by Jawbone to help keep her motivated and started using the weight loss app, Lose It!, to track her daily calories.

The Up24 and Lose It! app were the perfect combination to get Michelle excited about staying on track with her health goals. She even sets her Up24 to vibrate every hour and a half to remind her to get up and walk around when she is at work.

“I struggled with making healthier choices my whole life, but finally feel like I have it down,” said Michelle.

Her friends, family and colleagues are taking notice and are inspired by her success. Some co-workers and friends have joined the app and often challenge each other to move more and follow each other’s progress. To date, Michelle has lost more than 32 pounds and is looking forward to an even healthier 2016.

  2. Track what you are eating and how much you are moving.
  3. Work out with a friend to keep you motivated and accountable.
