Want to start eating better in the new year? Always have healthy snacks readily available when hunger strikes. Here are four snack ideas to keep handy.

  • Keep a supply of baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, broccoli and cauliflower cut up and ready to eat. Use a low-fat salad dressing or hummus for dipping.
  • Mix fresh or frozen berries with low-fat yogurt. Add granola for a quick parfait.
  • Need quick snacks on the go? Try fresh whole fruit, low-fat cheese and nutrition bars.
  • Make your own healthy trail mix. Use high fiber cereal, dried fruit and nuts.
